Reps to partner Idealab Agency to train 5000 Nigerian Youths in digital skills, Agribusiness











The House of Representatives is to partner with Idealab Agency an international organization to train 5000 Nigerian youths in digital skills, agribusiness and other ventures.

Chairman of the Nigeria-US Parliamentary Friendship Group Hon.Okey-Joe Onuakalusi gave the assurance of this partnership during an interactive meeting between the Director-General of Idealab Nigeria Limited Mr Emmanuel Aondoaka and other management staff of the organization in Abuja on Thursday.

The lawmaker and other committee members during the interface meeting assured the management of the organization that whenever it convinces the House with detailed programmes and relevant approval documents from the relevant government agencies, they will make the necessary funds available through the national budget for such programmes.


He said that the House Committee will ensure that any training programme that will benefit a large segment of the youth population in the country is captured in the national budget through the House panel.

He however said that there is need for conviction by the committee that there ‘ll be transparency and accountability in the disbursement and management of funds approved by the House for such programmes.


Earlier in a presentation before House Parliamentary Friendship group, the Director-General DG Idealab Agency Mr Emmanuel Aondoaka said that the organization has secured the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN for realase of between N15 million and N75 million for the training of Nigerian youths in digital skills, agribusiness and other ventures.

He told the House Committee that the funds when accessed by the organization would be disbursed to 5000 Nigerian youth benefitiaries through the Development Bank of Nigeria and the Bank of Industry BOI for the smooth take off- of the programme.

He also said that the organization has concluded plans to train the 5000 youths in digital skills, agribusiness and other ventures with certificate of registration from the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC.


The Nigeria-US Parliamentary Friendship group is one of the parliamentary friendship groups constituted by the Speaker of the 10th House Rt.Hon.Tajudeen Abbas to help strengthen the cordial relations between lawmakers in the Nigeria National Assembly and the US Congress.
