Reps mourns late Mrs. Ezinne Comfort Ezenna











The House of Representatives on resumption of Tuesday plenary mourned the death of Mrs. Ezinne Comfort Ezenna.

Speaker Abbas Tajudeen who presided over the session, suspended the House proceedings midway to enable the House observe a one minute silence in honour of Mrs. Ezenna, who is mother of Philanthropist, Industrialist and successful businessman, Chief Tony Ezenna.

According to the condolence letter sent by Member Representing Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, Imo State, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, Mrs. Ezenna died on 8th November, 2025 at the age of 88 years.


He described the late Ezenna as a woman whose service to the poor and needy is legendary and that her contribution to the growth education And her immediate community will forever be appreciated and urged all members to attend the burial fixed for 15th January, 2026.

Until her death, Mrs. Ezinne Comfort Ezenna was a philanthropist, an educationist, a community leader and a great pillar of support to many indigenous members of the society whose education, welfare, and up-keep, she was responsible for.


She was educated at St Peters School, Akokwa, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate (Standard Six Certificate) when Primary School Education was highly rated, before the outbreak of the Nigerian civil war in the 1960s.

She is the mother of one of the illustrious sons of Akokwa in Imo State, a businessman and great philanthropist, Sir (Chief) Tony Ezenna (ele Akokwa), the founder of Orange Drugs Nigeria Ltd.

She worked as a fashion designer, and helped in the training of young men who have a calling Into the Priesthood of the Roman Catholic Church. She is a founding member of Pora Caeli Cisteme Monastry, Owerre Akokwa, Imo State She has Nursery and Primary Schools where she provides free education for the poor and needy.


She will be buried on the 15th of January 2026 in her home town in Owerre Akokwa In line with our traditional rites in view of her immense contributions to her immediate community and the larger society.
