
Islamic and Christian leaders in Kebbi State have jointly requested President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to organize a national prayer for divine intervention to address the persistent armed banditry attacks in Northern Nigeria
The leaders gathered for a special prayer session, organized by the Kebbi State government, to seek God’s intervention in ending the insecurity in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday.
This was contained in a statement by Abdullahi Idris Sadaukin Zuru, Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor
The special prayer that brought together Islamic Scholars from all religious sects,pastors and reverend fathers of all denominations was the fifth in the series of different strategic approaches initiated by Governor Nasir Idris for finding solution to the menace of armed banditry.
Governor Nasir Idris emphasized the unity and commitment of Nigerians, regardless of religious differences, in ensuring peace and unity in the country.
He added that the coming together of religious leaders from the different beliefs and sects underscores the unity and commitment of Nigerians regardless of religious differences in ensuring peace and unity in the country.
Comrade Governor Idris appealed to sustain the prayer at their various communities.
Those who led the Muslim faithfuls in the prayer include Sheikh Abdulrahaman Isah Jega, Sheikh Abbas Muhammadu Jega, Sheikh Umar Malisa and Sheikh Abubakar Ribah
On the other side, the vice chairman of the Kebbi State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigerian Rev. Femi Oropin led other men of God, including Rev. Nuhu Mamman Gudul, Rev. Joshua Ochimana and retired justice Mairiga.
The leaders passed a vote of confidence in Governor Idris’s commitment and dedication to ending security challenges in Kebbi and the affected neighbouring states.
Conclusively, the leaders
requested President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to direct the organization of a national prayer session across the country in order to seek God’s intervention in restoring peace in the affected states.
The leaders passed a vote of confidence in Governor Nasir Idris’s commitment and dedication to ending security challenges in Kebbi State and neighbouring states.
It could be recalled that Governor Nasir Idris’s had hosted several meetings, including the Northern Traditional Rulers Council, the Progressive Governors Forum, and the Kebbi Elders consultative forum to collectively address the security situation.
The Comrade Governor’s efforts are in addition to the complementary support with the provision of 100 Hilux vehicles and 5,000 motorcycles to the security agencies in Kebbi State.
