Presidency welcomes senate’s confirmation of service chiefs

The presidency has expressed delight over the Senate’s confirmation of the appointments of new Service Chiefs, just hours after the exercise was concluded on Wednesday.

Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate Matters, personally signed a statement commending the smooth screening and confirmation process.

Lado said he facilitated the interface between the Executive and the Legislature to ensure a coordinated engagement, aligning with President Tinubu’s commitment to effective governance and national security.


The newly appointed Service Chiefs include Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede (Chief of Defence Staff), Major Gen. Waidi Shaibu (Chief of Army Staff), AVM Sunday K. Aneke (Chief of Air Staff), and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas (Chief of Naval Staff).

Lado praised the Senate’s prompt consideration, saying it underscores the strong collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature in advancing Nigeria’s national interest and ensuring security and stability.


He expressed appreciation to the President of the Senate, Senate Leadership, and Distinguished Senators for their commitment to the confirmation process.
