HON CHIMA BONIFACE NJOKU TO LIGHTS UP ETCHE AS HE FLAGS OFF POWER RECONNECTION PROJECT FOR OKEHI CLAN








Stakeholders in Okehi Clan, Etche Local Government Area, have hailed the reconnection of their communities to the national electricity grid, describing it as a landmark achievement with direct impact on the economic and social wellbeing of the people.




They made the commendation when sons and daughters of Okehi Clan gathered at Umuola Obibi Junction to witness the official flag-off of the Okehi Clan Electricity Reconnection Project, initiated by the Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku.


In their goodwill messages, the people lauded the council chairman for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to grassroots development and pledged their total support and vowed to protect the project against vandalism and sabotage.


Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Chima Boniface Njoku reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to executing projects and programmes that would positively transform the lives of Etche people.


He decried the deplorable condition of public infrastructure across the area and assured that steps were being taken to rehabilitate them, noting that power supply remains critical to both economic and social advancement of the people Etche.




"We must see light before we talk about any other project. My people must feel that sense of belonging by having electricity", he emphasized.


The council chairman expressed appreciation to political leaders and stakeholders in Etche for their unity and support toward the realisation of the initiative, codenamed ‘Operation Light Up the 19 Wards of Etche.’




"This is not a Facebook promise or a political statement; it is a reality that will manifest by the grace of God in December,” he assured.


Hon. Njoku also cautioned against any act of sabotage and reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to deliver the project fully for the benefit of the people.




"During my tenure as Chairman, I will personally pay the electricity bills to ensure the people of Etche enjoy uninterrupted power supply, he declared".




He further urged the people to reciprocate government’s gesture by participating actively in the ongoing nationwide voter registration exercise.


In addition, the chairman used the occasion to inaugurate an ad-hoc committee to mediate in traditional stool disputes within Okehi Clan and facilitate amicable resolutions in line with Etche customs and traditions.

Chief Hon Ephraim Nwuzi who chaired the occasion, commended Hon. Njoku for launching his 100 days in office with a life-changing project. He recalled the history of electricity in Etche, noting that reconnecting the area to the national grid marks a new dawn.




"If you don’t have money, go and borrow money, but give Etche people what they need,” he said.

Chief Hon. Nwuzi also praised the council chairman for his bold fight against land grabbing, describing it as a courageous move that protects the heritage of Etche people, and assured him of their continued support.




The benefiting wards under the reconnection project include Igbodo Ward 14, Obibi Ward 9, and Okehi Ward 11.
