UAG commends AFN for valuing discipline and respect

The Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) has commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their discipline and respect, highlighting these qualities as key to their success in peacekeeping operations and global recognition.

The group’s convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, made this statement on Thursday in response to an incident between Minister Nyesom Wike and a naval officer, Lieutenant Commander Yerima, in Abuja.

UAG described the incident as unfortunate but praised the officer’s high level of discipline and respect. The group emphasized that the AFN, under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede, is committed to maintaining discipline and respect for constituted authorities.

“UAG describes the incident between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and a naval officer, Lieutenant Commander Yerima, at a disputed site in Abuja as unfortunate, especially when both have a common head in the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

“We however commend the discipline and respect shown by the young officer. His attitude during the altercation with the Honourable Minister is a reflection of what has endeared our troops in and outside the country.

“He has shown that the Armed Forces, under the able leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, are disciplined”.

” UAG is confident that the AFN, under the present CDS, will continue to show respect to constituted authorities and the President and Commander in Chief, Bola Tinubu.

“UAG urge Nigerians to continue to support our troops. They are making sacrifices for peace, unity and stability. We must support and encourage them,” the Group added.
